🔴 TikTok Opens Stream Key Applications

TikTok this week introduced a new way to get a stream key. As with all things TikTok, it comes with a catch. 😅

🗝 TikTok LIVE Stream Keys

On Wednesday evening, TikTok announced a new “Stream Key Accelerator Program”. As with most things TikTok, it comes with a few caveats!

Here’s what you need to know:

• It is US only right now. 🇺🇸

• The program offers a stream key for 90 days. It’s unclear what happens after this period.

• You also get exclusive access to TikTok staff who will help you grow your stream.

Confusingly, it seems like this was only announced via Twitter. If you’re an eligible American, you can apply here.

Not Eligible?

If you can’t join the accelerator program then you’ll have to get a stream key via an official agency.

• Creators in other countries can check out my list of agencies. Agencies are free to join and can usually get you a stream key.

🔥 Major YouTube Changes!

It’s been a big week in the world of YouTube. Let’s look at everything that’s happened, including a small amount of drama!

😲 The End Of The Open Mouth Thumbnail Meta

You can’t escape the open mouth thumbnails of YouTube. The main reason for them? MrBeast of course. However, this era of YouTube thumbnails has been officially declared over by Jimmy!

The lesson here? Even the biggest creators on any platform continue to learn. So don’t get lazy and keep experimenting!

You’re probably also wondering how MrBeast is testing his thumbs. He has early access to a new YouTube feature called “Test & Compare”. It lets you test up to 3 thumbnails and automatically applies the thumbnail that gets the most watch time.

YouTube has stated that this is in a testing phase right now and will be rolled out in “2024”. Sadly they haven’t been more precise than that.

💰 🔗 Other YouTube News

A few other important changes have also been announced or gone into effect.

1. 🤑 YouTube is introducing simplified ad controls in November. This appears to mean that you have no control over skippable vs. unskippable ads anymore. They are also improving ads on livestreams.

2. 🌐 As we discussed last week, the ability to click on links in Shorts comments and descriptions is going away. This process has already started last week with YouTube slowly removing more and more links.

3. 🎬 In place of clickable links, the ability to add “Related Links” is fully live for all channels. This means your viewers can go directly from a Short to a video, stream or another Short.

4. 😡 Earlier in the week, Jacksepticeye claimed that MrBeast has ruined YouTube. After MrBeast publicly responded on Twitter, the pair rather boringly squashed the beef within a few days. They’re playing against each other in the Sidemen Charity football match tomorrow!

👾 TikTok LIVE Minecraft - Streamer vs Viewer 2.0

This game has continued to trend on TikTok. It’s pretty simple, the streamer places blocks inside a bedrock cube, and the viewers send gifts to blow up the blocks. If the streamer fills the cube, they win.
