🔴 TikTok Finally Releases This Feature

Ever heard the phrase one step forward, two steps back? That’s what it often feels like with TikTok 😅.

🤬 TikTok’s Most Innovative Streamer Isn’t Happy

Remember the TikTok sleep stream trend last year? The biggest and best streamer during that time was Jakey Boehm, who has 1.2M followers. Even this week, he was mentioned by BBC News.

Since then, Jakey has continued to innovate with interactive gaming streams and live battles. However, he has often been met by automated warnings from TikTok and lower view counts.

This week, Jakey embarked on an expletive-filled rant inside his Discord server and made some very valid points. This is not the first time, as early Live Success adopters will remember. Here’s a summary:

• Jakey is frustrated with TikTok's handling of his low viewer counts. TikTok suggests the issue is with Jakey's content, not the platform's algorithm.

• Jakey counters that he has adapted his content multiple times, only for TikTok's warnings to hamper his success. His viewers have dropped from 4,000 to 60/70, despite initial successes with different content formats.

• Jakey claims his followers don't receive notifications and must search for him to view his content.

• In his email response to TikTok, Jakey accuses them of offering generic corporate answers that don't address his issues. He feels let down by the platform and believes it has destroyed his progress.

In response, Jakey has launched a Kick channel and paused his TikTok streams for the rest of the week. You can read his full expletive-laden rant here and here.

The lesson? Diversify your content to more platforms. We are at the mercy of unpredictable algorithms on most platforms.

The more platforms you use, the better. It’s the main reason I started this newsletter and my Discord server.

⭐ TikTok Launches Gifted Subs

TikTok has once again begun an experiment with gifted subs. Here’s a quick breakdown.

• 50 active subscribers are required before gifted subs can be activated.

• Only viewers aged 18+ can send gifted subs. This is the same requirement as for regular subs.

• A full rollout is expected in the coming weeks. Currently, only around 20% of viewers have access.

• $2.10 is the presumed revenue split for creators. A 35% split after the app stores and TikTok take their cuts.
