There have been more developments around a TikTok ban in the US this week plus a livestream platform shutting down, or is it? Let’s dive right in.

🔔 Is TikFinity Still Good?

The short answer is yes, TikFinity remains the only viable fully featured alerts platform for TikTok LIVE. Here’s why I think that is, starting with the features.

Features

Actions/Events Page

While it can be confusing at first, this remains the most powerful part of TikFinity and it has only got better in the past year.

Your imagination is the limit with this page because there are so many options. It can range from a simple alert like a viewer’s name appearing on screen after a follow to the most epic examples like the sleep streams of old, which fell victim to over-the-top TikTok rules.

Text-To-Speech

On the TTS Chat page, TikFinity can read out loud chat messages in a variety of voices like the ever-popular Ghostface. You can fully control whose messages are read and how often. Back on the actions/events page, you can make it say whatever you want based on events like subs, follows etc.

I think TTS is a great incentive for people to send money in the form of a gift or sub, so I like to set this to subscribers and gifters only. Not to mention the fact that followers and non-followers will sadly try to abuse it.

New Features

TikFinity is still being constantly updated. Here’s a list of some newer features released just in the past few months:

Alternatives

The only viable alternative is the built-in alerts inside TikTok LIVE Studio, which serve as basic alerts but lack the extensive range of features and flexibility offered by TikFinity.

My Thoughts

When Zerody, the owner of TikFinity, first popped into my Discord in 2022 and shared TikFinity I was in disbelief. I couldn’t believe somebody was giving away so much for free. My opinion hasn’t changed, the amount you can do without paying a penny is nuts!

Still, any platform can be improved and the comment I often see is about customisation. For example, the Goal Overlays can be customised to an extent but there’s certainly room for improvement. Let’s not forget TikFinity is a one-man company and I think he does a fantastic job with that in mind.

⛔ TikTok Moves One Step Closer To A US Ban

On Saturday, the US House Of Representatives once again voted to ban TikTok. The difference this time? It was part of a package of measures, most of which were focused on foreign aid.

The bill now heads to the Senate. Previously the Senate simply sat on the bill, effectively stopping the TikTok ban. However, because it is part of a package it is likely to pass through the Senate as early as this week, and President Biden has said he’ll sign it.

However, that's likely where the progress will halt. This is because there could be several years of legal challenges, or TikTok might ultimately be acquired by a US company, which is the goal of the legislation.

What action should creators take? I covered my three-step plan for the TikTok ban in a previous edition.

• LiveSpace, a small streaming platform, has announced it is shutting down. However, the CEO of Rumble has offered them a lifeline.

• Twitch admits to accidentally cancelling the subscriptions of some viewers, leading to a loss of revenue for streamers and a loss of sub-streaks and badges for viewers.

• Elgato announces a new range of “plug and play” devices.

• Eligibility rules for TikTok LIVE have been updated to state that “directing people off-platform” will make you ineligible on the FYP.

• TikTok launches a guessing game feature for LIVE Studio and Mobile Gaming. It looks to be a slightly more advanced poll feature.

• TikTok also adds an in-game overlay to LIVE Studio. Especially useful for those with one monitor!
