📱 YouTube Lengthens Shorts

YouTube is increasing the maximum length of a Short from 60 seconds to 180 seconds. As of October 15, any square or vertical video uploaded to YouTube is automatically detected as a Short. YouTube states that it will take until the end of November for longer Shorts to appear on sub and channel pages.

This is great news for people posting longer vertical videos on other platforms. I often talk about working smarter and not harder so now is the time to identify your most popular 60 to 180-second videos. Download them using a tool such as SnapTik and then simply reupload them as Shorts over several days.

TikTok, Shorts, Facebook Reels and Instagram Reels all have the potential for millions of views. Upload the same video everywhere. Yes, I did say Facebook. Link your FB and IG pages together then you can check a box during the IG upload process to upload to both. Don’t believe me? Check out the millions of views Blue Thunder gets from reposting to FB.

🎬 TikFinity On Your Phone

TikFinity, in partnership with Own3d, has released TikStream, an app for TikTok streamers using their phones, whether they’re live with “device cameras” or “mobile gaming” options. The app is designed to make it easy for mobile streamers to add interactive features directly into their streams without complex setups.

TikStream’s features include “Sound Mode” for audio alerts and text-to-speech based on viewer interactions like gifts, follows, or subs, making streams more engaging. With “Capture Mode,” streamers can use goal, gift, and chat widgets in their broadcasts, similar to the overlays available on TikFinity, bringing desktop-level functionality to mobile streaming.

This app offers a straightforward way for streamers to integrate alerts without extra devices or workarounds. If I were streaming from my phone, I’d test both “mobile gaming” and “device cameras” modes to see how each affects viewer engagement and stream performance.
