🟢 The Streamlabs OBS Plugin Is Here

Earlier today, Streamlabs released a great plugin for OBS. This section is sponsored but as frequent readers know, I’ve been a Streamlabs Ultra user for many years and would have shared this regardless!

🔴 TikTok Ban Signed Into Law

As expected, last week the Senate voted by a large majority to ban TikTok and President Biden then swiftly signed the bill into law.

Here’s a summary of what the bill will do:

  • The bill requires ByteDance, the Chinese owner of TikTok, to sell its ownership of the US version of TikTok within nine months.

  • There's a possibility of a three-month extension if a deal is close to being finalised.

  • If no sale happens within the timeframe, TikTok would be banned in the US.

  • The goal is to have TikTok under US ownership, not necessarily a complete ban.

As an interesting side note, these bullet points were provided by Google’s free Gemini AI chatbot.

TikTok CEO Reacts

Naturally, Shou Chew the CEO responded via a TikTok video. The gist of the video below is that he believes the ban is against the US First Amendment and they will challenge it in the courts, as expected.

Reuters also reports that TikTok would rather shut down in the US than sell its algorithm to another company.
