👩‍⚖️ Judge Upholds TikTok Ban

TikTok just moved one step closer to a ban in the US. This follows a federal appeals court judge denying TikTok’s appeal. The app faces a ban in the US starting on January 19th. US creators and viewers would lose access to TikTok. Non-US creators would lose access to an audience of over 170M monthly users.

This shows the importance of diversifying your content strategy. And it’s even easier to do this now thanks to YouTube Shorts max length recently being increased to 3 minutes. Tools like SnapTik allow easy downloading of your TikTok videos with no watermarks. Multistreaming is the best way to protect yourself on the streaming side.

Donald Trump and his right-wing Supreme Court may provide a lifeline to TikTok. Trump arrives in office the day after the ban is supposed to go into force. It seems likely that the Supreme Court will block the ban before that. An agency insider tells me “Trump won't let TikTok be banned”. Still, the odds of a ban are not zero. Take action now to diversify your content.

🚀 Kai Cenat’s Record-Breaking Month

Kai Cenat has had a record-breaking month. He reclaimed the title of most monthly subs in just 11 days. For the rest of the month, he massively extended his record. From a previous record of around 327,000, he more than doubled it to around 725,000 subs. By my calculations, he made over $3M from subs alone, with 20% going to help build schools in Nigeria.

Every day of the stream was a new spectacle. Too many to name but the stream included celebrity appearances from the likes of Miranda Cosgrove and Kevin Hart. His Twitch stream was like a reality TV show.

The average streamer can’t replicate this. But we can still learn from it. How can you bring spectacle to your livestream? Bring a little fun to your stream. A few months back I hopped into Didjax’s Kick stream and he was doing 5 squats per subscriber. We can all find ways to up the entertainment value.

🎬 Weekly Video

TikTok LIVE Studio has recently had problems with audio and high resource usage. You can negate some of these problems by simply setting up your livestream in OBS, and then sending it to LIVE Studio. This means you only need to add a single source to LS.

The alternative is to simply use OBS on its own by getting a TikTok stream key.
