š® How Captain Tubesocks Makes Hundreds From Gaming Streams
A case study has been long overdue. This week weāre heading to the top of the US gaming weekly ranking and taking a look at Captain Tubesocks.
In just 20 minutes, I recorded over $100 in gifts on his stream. Whatās his secret? Letās find out.
A screenshot from Captainās stream.
Whatās his setup?
Heās streaming horror games from his PC. He is clearly using a stream key and OBS and has a pretty sophisticated-looking background.
When viewers send gifts a number of things happen depending on the gift. While watching his stream I observed sound alerts, videos popping up and even his camera shot completely changing so it appeared that there was a skeleton in his chair!
Heās also configured his PC so that any sound from his alerts is fed right into his horror game.
The Secret?
I think there are four key factors to Captainās success here. And the first is by far the most important.
Strong community - He has built a loyal army of gifters. Incredibly, he has over 1,600 subscribers which means heās making over $3,300 per month just from subs! Heās also giving his subscribers text-to-speech, which feeds directly into his game.
Personality - heās high energy and very likeable. These two traits mean he can provide high-quality entertainment and at the same time build a loyal follower (and subscriber) base.
Great setup - Heās using a high-quality green screen, an excellent webcam/camera, good lighting and good sound quality. Heās also got an insanely complex-looking green screen background which is horror-themed of course. Viewers can tell when effort has been put in and will often appropriately reward you for it.
Use of tech - Heās āonlyā doing two things here. Firstly, heās using TikFinity to great effect. This includes TTS for subs, showing the top gifters as well as having a number of different images, videos or sounds set for specific gifts.
Heās also likely using an app like Voicemeeter to send his alert sounds directly into his horror game, which alerts the monsters!
In summary, Captain Tubesocks has produced a high-quality stream, deliberately āniched downā into the horror genre then built a super generous and loyal community. A combination of these factors has propelled him to the top of the weekly rankings for gamers.
š¢ Is The Future Of Livestreaming Green?
This week, Kick announced the next stage of their Creator Incentive Program. Simply put, Kick will be paying an hourly rate to streamers. Hereās everything you need to know.
Kick has already been testing the program with a small group of creators. Further invite-only tests will continue in October and November.
At the end of 2023, Kick hopes to integrate the program into the dashboard. You can then view the requirements similar to the way youād view the affiliate requirements.
Theyāve released some oddly specific requirements right now. 126 average viewers, 239 subs, 337 chatters/month and 89 hours/month.
According to Streams Charts, just 1.1% of creators on Kick meet the current viewership requirements. Kick wants to be sure youāre creating a high-quality engaging stream before paying up!
My take? Itās gonna be interesting to see if other streaming platforms react to this in the coming months and years. The obvious question is how will Kick fund this? Hit reply and let me know your thoughts!
Regardless, I think all streamers should at least strongly consider streaming on Kick. Try multistreaming to TikTok and Kick at the same time!
